Next Parade service 7th February 2010

Help needed.
Have you considered being a helper for a couple of hours a week in the Girlguiding Association? You must be aged 18+ and it could be added to your CV to say you have worked with in the voluntary section. You could work with rainbow age (5 -7 yrs), brownie age (7 - 11 yrs) or guides (10 - 16 yrs)

Come to a meeting and see what it is like! It is very rewarding. One of my new ladies said, she likes helping because she is helping the children in the community and she was once a brownie and guide and wants to put back things that she has learnt.

7th Welling (Falconwood) Scout Group Review of 2008

The 7th Welling had a successful year. We held a number of fund raising events to support the Group’s activities and the number of boys attending meetings increased during the year. We began and ended the year with our well attended New Year’s Eve Disco. In March Nigel Betts, Mayor of Bexley unveiled our bench to the memory of Tom May, our former Scout Leader and community worker who died in 2007. Tom was the driving force behind the building of our Scout Hut which opened in 1986. We supported our local schools by attending their school summer fairs with our bridge, which is always a popular attraction. Always popular with the boys are camps and in the spring our Scouts attended the annual SuperPatrol competition at Downe Campsite. At the beginning of the summer holidays seven of our boys attended Camp Downe. In preparation for the event the boys undertook some fund raising events such as the sponsored London Bridges Walk. In October we held a jumble sale, which was well supported. Our thanks are extended to all those from Bishop Ridley and in the Falconwood Community who helped on the day, made donations and came and spent their money!

A number of events are planned for 2009 including jumble sales and a Race Night and we look forward to seeing our friends and supporters there.
