Churches Together in Welling are organising Lent House Groups using the York course "When I survey... Chist's cross and ours". The course runs for the 5 weeks of Lent and the idea is to bring together people from different churches for an interesting and enjoyable series of meetings.

The Diocesan Council for Health and Healing are holding a day conference entitled ‘Refreshment and Resurrection’ on Wednesday 14th April 10am to 3.30pm at the Burrswood Christian Healing Centre, Tundbridge Wells. Price £20 including lunch. For more information please see notice board.

If you are already in a house/home group why not take a break from it for Lent and join a CTIW group. If you are not in a house/home group this is a good chance to see what they are like. Please see the form at the back of the church.

The Diocesan Child Protection Advisory Group in partnership with Churches Child Protection Advisory Service (CCPAS) will be holding a seminar entitled, “ Facing the Unthinkable. Child Abuse and The Church”, at St Peters Church, College Road, Hextable, BR8 7RH on Saturday 13 March 2010 from 9.00am to 1.30pm.
The diocese places great importance on child protection and strongly recommends that church leaders, youth workers and all those working with children should at some stage attend this seminar. Many of us have already done so, but for those of you who have not, could I positively encourage you to do so. If you are not able to attend this seminar another is planned for 20 November 2010 at Rochester St Justus. Booking forms can be obtained from Clare in the church office, or from me. Mission Support

In mid July Bishop Ridley Church supported me (thank you) as I traveled to Davao City in the Southern Philippines to work with a partner of Oversea Mission Fellowship International, the Malikha Urban Poor Team/Taytayan Development Projects (TDP). I was away six weeks.

I supported the MUPTeam working with street level communities which included the homeless, street kids, street youth and men and women in the sex trade; I also supported two Muslim communities teaching in pre-school and supporting women with their literacy.

It was a very challenging and rewarding stage of my ministry. To step out of my comfort zone and travel to the Philippines was a tremendous experience. I saw God at work in a way that I did not think possible. God showed me how He is at work. . And God has enabled these communities to minister to me. It has been a truly humbling experience. Through the MUPTeam, I have seen God’s love at work in the kids, the youth, the GIST, the MIST and the WIST. I have seen how the team are with them - talking, laughing, crying, listening, relating, loving them. They make these communities feel valued, feel wanted, feel accepted. “I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Isiah 6.8 This was/is my verse for coming here. I felt I was being called and it was me who was doing this. How arrogant of me. The call of God is not a reflection of my desires or my passions but His. It is He who chooses us to use in glorifying His kingdom. What is happening is God at work, it is God who is putting the smile on his children’s faces. And the MUPTeam is allowing God to use them.

About the Spitalfields Crypt Trust
We provide a range of high-quality support, rehabilitation and training services, to people facing problems of homelessness, alcohol, drugs, poverty or social isolation. We help clients to make real life changes, to attempt new things, and develop personal confidence and social skills that will facilitate healing and break the patterns that can lead back into addiction and homelessness. Work includes a Drop-In Centre, a rehabilitation hostel, two second-stage move-on homes, a life and practical skills training centre, and five charity shops.
