Alpha

LIFE IS WORTH EXPLORING..

Tough?  Exciting?  Disappointing?  Precious?

Life is full of highs and lows.  There are times when you stand in awe of nature, completely exhilarated, instances when you laugh your socks off, and moments when you put your head in your hands with crushing disappointment.  Sometimes in the middle of it all, when you least expect it, something makes you stop and think.  You ask one question and the others start coming, "where does love come from?", "where am I heading?", "why am I here?".

Socrates famously said, "An unexamined life is not worth living."  The fact is, sometimes it is easier not to ask questions, but on the Alpha course we thinking life is worth exploring.  That's why we created a place to explore the questions of life.

The Alpha course is open to everyone interested in discovering what Christianity is about.  Come, relax, eat, share your thoughts and explore the meaning of life.

The next course starts on Thursday 29th September at 7.15pm  here in Bishop Ridley Church.

If you think there is a God and want to find out more, why not come along?  Or if you feel that you would like to refresh your faith, you are also welcome.

If you would like to know more, please email Trudy Brennan, our Alpha Co-ordinator, at alpha@brchurch.org.uk or contact the Church Office.

There is no charge for the Alpha course.

And a bit more about Alpha...

Alpha is a 10 week, 1 session a week, course with a Saturday awayday in the middle. Each session begins with a meal where you get to know the other people on the course and those leading the group. This is followed by a talk (either live or on DVD), and then a group discussion on the topic for the day.  Listen, learn, discuss and discover.

Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile. You can ask anything. It's relaxed, non-threatening, low key, friendly and fun.

At Bishop Ridley, we run evening and daytime Alpha courses.

Alpha was created by Holy Trinity Brompton Church in London and is now used in Churches throughout the UK.  It is supported by all the main Christian denominations.
